    Recovery Hair Mask Recipe

TIFF is here in Toronto and while everyone is looking at the fashion and the famous faces… I’m gawking over the fabulous HAIR! Everyone wants luscious locks with the perfect amount of shine and bounce just like what we’re seeing on the red carpets this week! In honour of this, I’m going to share my all-time favourite natural hair mask recipe. Here are some glossy hair goals from TIFF over the past few days that will inspire you to try the hair mask:   I have used tons of expensive hair masks especially after travelling this summer and trying to fix the damage it caused. Sadly, I don’t like 90% of the hair…

Plants in the Home: 3 Reasons to Keep These Indoor Plants

Do you have plants in your home? Any at all? Not fake but real live luscious plants. It is so important to have plants in our homes and here is 3 reasons why:   #1. They purify the air we breathe! With cold weather around the corner, we all will be sealing up our homes. Without constant ventilation through the house, the air gets stuffy and the quality of the air indoors will decrease. Have you ever heard of VOCs (volatile organic compounds)? These compounds released into our homes everyday and negatively effect our family’s acting as carcinogens, causing unexplained headaches, skin or mental irritation, low energy and…

    Gluten-Free Refreshing Tabbouleh

Hello again, everyone! Sorry I haven’t posted in a while… I just finished writing my board exam (NPLEX I). It was the first of two board exams Naturopathic Doctors will write. I have been studying like crazy over the past 6 weeks so excuse my lack of updating the blog! I’m SO excited that the exam is out of the way because now I can focus on a month of relaxation before school starts up again in September! What better way to kick off summer than with a refreshing new recipe? I’m headed to a BBQ this afternoon in Toronto and I decided to bring my signature tabbouleh! Tabbouleh is…

Best of Bali: Kamandalu Resort, Ubud

Our next stop in Bali was the lovely and luscious Ubud! This northern city and the resort we stayed at is HIGHLY recommended if you ever visit Indonesia. We booked two nights at the Kamandalu Resort & Spa. Our stay was absolutely magical and I wish that we had spent just one more night at this gorgeous hotel. SERVICE Kamandalu’s driver picked us up in Seminyak. He was very kind and wasn’t shy to tell us the history of Bali answering all our “What’s that?” questions during the drive. He didnt mind if we wanted to stop at one of the art or silver shops on the way and even encouraged…

Travelling Thailand: How I did it!

What a better way to celebrate completing my 2nd year of Naturopathic medical school by packing up and heading to South East Asia with friends! First stop: Thailand! Throughout the past few years I have stumbled upon and screen-shotted gorgeous Instagram posts of Thailand. Screen-shotting these photos help me visualize and work hard to make a lot of my dreams into reality. I have a “Dream Board” photo album on my iPhone for whenever I see something that I like as inspiration, a dream travel destination or something I want. Dream boards sound so simple but work very well. If you are not familiar with the concept, I suggest you watch…

Best of Thailand: Bayview Phi Phi Resort

During our stay in Thailand, we stayed at the Bayview Phi Phi resort. I don’t have words for how amazing this hotel was! I felt so happy the minute we got there. The staff welcomed us so nicely and was very accommodating. Just being at this resort made me feel like I was in a dream mainly because the beach is so incredible. The atmosphere in the resort is very laid back and there is not one spot that you don’t have the most breath-taking views! We looked around at other hotels on the island and nothing really compared. Even just for one night, you need to check this place…

Best Of Bali: Astagina Resort Villa & Spa

We arrived in Bali, Indonesia late at night after flying in from Thailand. We were so happy with our first resort, “Astagina Resort Villa & Spa” where we stayed in the 2-bedroom pool villa. Being a guest here was a FABULOUS experience. After reading this blog, check out my YouTube video for the resort tour (link at bottom of page). ROOMS The resort consists of several hotel rooms (queen or 2 double beds), garden villas, pool villas and one 4-bedroom larger villa. We stayed in the 2-bedroom pool villa and it was incredible. In this villa you have a large semi-outdoor living area with a full kitchen, a large private…

    My Better-Than-Botox Secret

So the other day, one of my friends asked me if I’ve had Botox… when I answered no, she made me go through several facial expressions to prove that I wasn’t lying! I’ve never had anything injected into my face. My secret is COLLAGEN! Here’s how I discovered it: I tore a ligament in my ankle last summer and my colleague at school recommended that I try powdered collagen supplementation. Not only did this collagen product help my ankle recovery (my Chiro was amazed) but I noticed an amazing side effect– plumper skin!  Collagen is an abundant protein that sits in the dermal layer of the skin. An adequate…

How To Get A Flat Tummy

Eat gut-friendly foods. The gut loves lean protein, healthy fats and a balanced bacterial flora. My favourite kind of food for the gut is anything with a dose of probiotics like fermented Sauerkraut and Kimchi. As a bonus, these two are made of cabbage which has a slight natural laxative effect. I like Bubbie’s Sauerkraut, $9 (only 3 ingredients: water, salt, cabbage- love it!) and Live Raw’s Kimchi, 10.99$. Gut-friendly foods involve every ingredient that is found in my “HealthyGut Salmon Salad”: Serves 2 people: Two big handfuls of a mix of spinach and arugula, 1 avocado, sliced cucumber, oyster or crimini mushrooms sautéed a bit in olive oil,…
